Manufacturing something adds value to the raw materials by turning them into a product. The Science and research and development (R&D) sector is vital in helping us more understand the world around us whilst at the same time helping us develop tools and techniques that will reduce risks and overcome challenges. Development with DNA have helped the progress of criminal investigations, being able to predict earthquakes has saved the lives of many people, This work can take place in a variety of different environments, from large government department to a solitary technician working in a laboratory.

Sport covers a lot more than just teams and competitions. Vehicles and transport can be broken down into two separate sectors, the retail motor industry and passenger transport. The retail sector doesn’t just cover cars; it also deals with all aspects of vans, lorries, motorcycles and forklift trucks. This sector doesn’t just involve people in selling these vehicles, it also needs people who can fit new parts, service them, rescue stranded motorists and fix their vehicles. The passenger transport sector is equally as large, having a huge number of people support, run and drive transport.
