The aspiration of London is no longer to be the financial π° capital of the world... it's now aiming to be the creative π¨ capital of the world.
And it's on track to achieve this already - 1 in 5 jobs in London are now officially in the creative economy*.
Where Canary Wharf π and Bank π¦ used to be the thriving hubs of London, Kings Cross (pictured) π and Shoreditch π₯Ύ have taken first place.
They're already housing many of the biggest creative brands, and are therefore seen as 'the beating heart β€οΈ of the capital'. The long-term strategies to renovate both these areas have birthed a wealth of creative brands and opportunities.
And therefore London is leaning into it's thriving creative economy and is aiming to position itself as the leading capital of creativity.
π There are now more than 1.1m jobs in Londonβs creative economy β rising more than 200,000 in five years.
π° UK Creative industries have experienced higher than average growth following the pandemic, helping to drive the economy.
π€³ Last month, Mayor launched London Creates β a major new campaign from cultural leaders to celebrate London as the worldβs most creative capital.
DO NOT underestimate the power of the creative economy - it's growing at SUPER SPEED β©. And it's not just London - it's happening across the UK π¬π§.
Expect to see big things from the North East, Cornwall, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland in the next few years, because there's a lot of investment and activity happening there too!
