Last week students who had expressed an interest in following a career in the aviation industry were given an amazing opportunity to meet Courtney, a pilot who flies for easyJet. Courtney talked to them about how to become a pilot r flight attendant. She covered areas such as:
• what qualifications you need.
• what training you would be given.
• the different tasks you undertake on a daily basis as a pilot, from checking the plane to plotting the route. Students were also shown what the inside of the cockpit looked like.
• what skills you need in order to become successful.
Courtney explained that as part of their ongoing training pilots regularly have to spend time in a flight simulator where they can be presented with a disaster situation that they need to successfully complete. This could include fire, inside the plane, engine failure and many other possible scenarios. Courtney also talked about some of the other roles that can be found within the aviation industry.
We would like to thank Courtney from https://careers.easyjet.com/ for visiting us and inspiring our students to work hard and achieve their dreams.

Three students were also given the opportunity to take up the places our school has been offered as part of the Fantasy Wings programme. At Fantasy Wings, their goal is to give Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people and Women a platform to enter and excel in the Aviation industry or become commercial airline pilots through expert-led workshops, conferences, mentoring and real flight training. This is done through career workshops, mentoring and as part of the programme, 50 people will receive a Trial Flying Lesson sponsored by them. 3 additional people will receive full sponsorship for the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) covering 45-hours of training plus the examination cost.
We would like to thank https://fantasywings.co.uk/ for giving our students this amazing opportunity for a second year.
