After months of planning and what seemed like thousands of emails and phone calls the day had finally arrived for our careers Fair. This time it was bigger and better than last year. We had more stands and a much wider variety of participants. As the students entered the hall the first words the majority of them uttered were “What is that?” as they spied the special effects being produced by the team from ER Productions. There were lasers being projected onto the ceiling, a SparXtar machine generating a controlled sparks fountain and a Smokejet blasting and illuminating a vertical stream of water-based fog. What was even more fun was that the students were allowed to control these effects under the supervision of ER Productions staff.
There were many more interesting and informative stands, all highlighting to students, across all year groups, the many different careers that are out there, many that they had not been aware of before. They met individuals from a wide range of organisations, these included, the NHS, The Army, The Royal Air Force, Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Follies, Pure Elements Consultancy Ltd, Construction Youth Trust and many more.
Some of the stands had activities for the students to do. The staff from Kimberly Clark had a huge queue of students all hoping to ask the right question to successfully win a small stuffed Andrex puppy. At the same time the students found out about the wide range of professions that are needed to produce everyday needed items. The Stemettes had lots of activities to encourage students to think about STEM subjects. At the Army stand students could even discover for themselves the weight of the equipment soldiers have to carry as they go about their job. We even had Rachel, an alternative therapist from Harmonia Therapies giving students, and staff, relaxing hand massages.
Students could also ask questions about life at university as we welcomed Oxford University, Canterbury Christ Church, Uca and University of Greenwich.
All the participants found our students to be an interesting and informative event. The students ended the week gaining knowledge and guidance on possible future careers. Here is some of the feedback form just a small number of the organisations that attended.
It was a pleasure to be a part of the event – there was lots of interest from students and the event was really well organised, so thank you for your hard work in putting it all together!
Thank you for inviting us to the Careers Fair Event at Northfleet School for Girls last Friday. As team said, there were lots of students came to stand and asked about Army Jobs and Apprenticeships. The number of students have shown strong interest to join the Army in the future and also they have taken many Army jobs leaflets.
In overall, it was great event and thank you for giving us this opportunity to inform interested students of the wide variety of careers available in the Army. This gives students the opportunity to gain information about military life, Army apprenticeships and university sponsorships
We found the students very engaging and interested which was really encouraging. Most of them wanted to get involved and press all the buttons, was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm. I wish I had lovely like that when I was at school.
Friday’s Careers Fair at NSFG was a very different, but very rewarding experience.
For most employees, the opportunity to engage with such large numbers of young people in 2023 is not an everyday experience and I/we feel quite privileged to have represented Kimberly Clark
Thank you for inviting us – we had a great day and the students were all asking great questions around Apprenticeships. There were some great exhibitors as well – I’ve never been to a Careers Fair with fireworks on display… 😊

There’s no time to just sit back and relax, as there’s next years Careers Fair to start planning and it needs to be even bigger and better than this one. Anyone know a Baker who would be interested in having a stand??
